The Academy is for CVP alumni who are committed to their art practice and looking to turn it into a lifelong practice. Staying connected, learning, and inspiring each other is the key to keeping your art practice thriving—and that’s exactly what we do inside The Academy.
The Art2Life Academy is designed to meet you where you are right now in your art practice. The Academy provides teaching and guidance for your art as it improves over time. And of course, the most important aspect of the Academy is the vibrant community. This, more than anything, will provide you with tremendous momentum and support moving forward.
We’re looking for people who are fired up about their art and ready to continue the learning and progress they experienced in CVP, just at a slightly more relaxed rate. If you enjoyed CVP and are looking for a more long-term path for strengthening your art, learning, staying inspired, and building a joyful, sustainable art practice—The Academy is for you.
Many of our new Academy members are still making their way through CVP, and that’s perfectly okay! The continued support from our coaches, the bonus of receiving feedback on your work coupled with more classes, all works together to help us all “get it.”
The Academy combined with CVP is the formula for progress. That progress is made possible with the ongoing teaching of the CVP principles in the form of image adjustment videos and critiques—they are priceless! Being able to see the principles applied, hearing the thinking behind the adjustments, and checking if you would have done the same… This all keeps the principles in the forefront of your mind week after week, and enables you to apply what you’ve learned to what you are working on.
The Live Art Critiques happen each month. These are live calls where you’ll have a chance to get your questions answered. There are four types of Live Art Critiques inside The Academy:
- One-on-One Critiques, where Nick or an Art2Life Coach will give you direct feedback on a body of work on a call.
- Team Masterminds, where you get to see our team members give each other feedback on their own art in real time.
- Academy Member Masterminds, where 4-5 members, with the guidance of an Art2Life Coach, and give each other feedback on their art.
- Image Adjustments, where Nick and the Art2Life Coaches do image adjustments in real time on submitted artwork from about 15-20 members at a time.
The selection process for critiques differs with each critique, but most involve either submitting an image of your work and a question or our team will review your album and make selections based on a theme. For the Community Call, we usually have about 150 people on screen and Nick usually gets to talk to about 10-15 people (who have asked a question).
The Community Calls are a way for the entire Academy group to get together in one place. They typically contain around 150 people and follow a loose structure where members are able to ask questions to Nick and The Art2Life Team, and they’ll respond. We also set aside time for Nick to share new ideas, for members to share their art, and to get to know others in the group.
You can invest as much or as little time in The Academy as you’d like. Everything is optional, and it’s all recorded—so you can always go back and work through things at your own pace. We’ve carefully curated all of the resources in the membership to give you what you need when you need it.
Before joining The Academy, some of our members were concerned that being part of the community could distract them from their art-making. Instead, what they found is that by staying connected to great ideas and fresh perspectives, they not only became more inspired but more productive as well. Plus, our members find that being able to ask questions when you’re stuck is a powerful way to push through creative barriers and become more prolific in your work.
Our mission is to help you build a more consistent, joyful, and sustainable practice, and to ensure that your time at your easel or in the studio becomes more effective and productive than ever before.
The Academy has a dedicated Facebook Group for your conversations and sharing. Here is where the community members share ideas, inspiration, works-in-progress, and give and get feedback. We post reminders for upcoming Academy content as well.
No. Facebook is not required, however this is where the community engagement takes place and we encourage you to join our private group if you can. We do have members who do not use Facebook, and instead use the Academy to gain inspiration and learn from the monthly video Master Classes, Inspirational Interviews and Art Critiques. Under each video in the Academy Website, there is a comment section for members to chat about the content and stay connected.
You can get feedback by posting in the Academy Facebook Group using the hashtag #feedback or by joining one of our Live Art Critiques. In the Facebook Group, you’ll be getting feedback from the rest of the members, Art2Life Coaches, and Nick.
In the Live Art Critiques, you’ll be interfacing directly with Nick or an Art2Life Coach, and getting 1:1 feedback on a live call. These ART CRITIQUES come in a variety of formats including Mastermind Group Critiques with 4-5 participants, one-on-one critiques with Nick or a coach, and group Image Adjustments.
We also have a monthly Community Call live with Nick or an Art2Life Coach, where we give live feedback to members who have their camera on and ask questions.
Our live calls are on the 3rd and 4th Wednesdays of each month at 12pm PDT. A full schedule will be available on the website once you enroll and remember that everything is recorded to view at a later time.
Both The Art2Life Academy and The Studio are ongoing programs. You can stay in either as long as you’d like! We still have Academy members who have been enrolled since its inception in 2016.
